I only blog for fun; my blog is a creative outlet and I love reading and getting inspiration from other bloggers, so I was so pleased when this little blog of mine received an award nomination for the Liebster award from fellow blogger – Cottage Retreatist who blogs over at http://www.cottageretreatist.wordpress.com
A liebster award and nominations are all about acknowledging small blogs and appreciating fellow bloggers. I’ve been asked by Cottage Retreatist to answer the following questions about my blog; so here goes!
1) Why did you start your blog?
I started my blog as I wanted a creative outlet, I’ve always loved writing and reading and whilst living in New Zealand I had a great opportunity to write a few articles for ‘The Aucklander’ – an online community news website. I’ve been inspired by other bloggers out there to start blogging and I thought I’d start blogging about topics that I’m interested in and passionate about. I’m really hot on trying to live a simpler, more thrifty life where I appreciate my blessings and live in the moment…it’s not easy…let’s just say it’s a work in progress. I’m also trying to clear some debts, get more creative and I’m into charity fundraising and becoming more socially conscious to the issues in society and what I can do to effect change.
2) What is your favourite blog post so far and why?
Probably, the blog posts I wrote about the living below the line challenge: http://www.sarassimplyliving.com/2014/04/28/living-below-the-line-5-for-5-days
Participating in the challenge was a big eye opener for me, it helped me raise some critical funds and awareness and I found the whole five days a humbling experience.
3) What is your perfect Sunday?
If I’m staying in Birmingham with my partner it would be waking up around 8 or 9 am, having a coffee and breakfast together, feeding the guinea pigs and taking Bowie and Mixie out their cage for some cuddles. Then around lunch time, we would tuck into a Sunday dinner, walk my partner’s mum’s two beautiful Labradors and then in the evening snuggle by the telly or read. Yes, I’m a granny!
If I’m visiting family and friends in London – my perfect Sunday would be spending quality time with family and friends – often hanging out in South London. I would go to my favourite café in Lordship Lane with the girls, go window shopping, pop into my favourite few charity shops and then head back to Birmingham to be with Matt.
4) What is your favourite quote?
‘Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know which one you’re gonna get.’
5) Describe yourself in three words
Determined, caring and strong.
So here are my nominations:
1) Victoria @ The Frugal Trial http://www.frugaltrial.co.uk/
A fantastic blog all about the journey to become debt free and healthier.
2) Cottage Retreatist @ http://www.cottageretreatist.wordpress.com
A brilliant thrifty blog about living the country life in London and clearing debts.
My questions are:
1) what inspired you to start blogging?
2) What’s your favourite blog post?
3) What do you do when you get writers block?
4) What keeps you motivated and inspired to clear those debts?
If you’ve already been nominated and answered similar questions then don’t feel you gotta answer them again!
Thanks again Cottage Retreatist for the nomination!
